SASTRA University also offers distance education. The Directorate of Distance Education SASTRA University was established in the year 2002 and it aims at to help the learner in fulfilling his or her educational aspirations. SASTRA is offering the following subjects through distance mode.

1. Education

   B. Ed Programme
   Eligibility:
   i) A Bachelor’s degree in Tamil ( B.A / B.Lit ) / English / Mathematics / Physics /Applied Physics / Chemistry / Applied Chemistry / Bio Chemistry / Botany /Zoology / Micro Biology / Environmental Science / History / Geography /Applied Geography / Computer Science / Computer Applications / Information Technology.
   (or)
   A Post graduate degree (with a UG degree in the same subject) in Economics / Commerce / Home science from a recognized University.
   
   ii) In-Service teachers with two years full time teaching experience in a Nursery /Primary / Secondary / Higher secondary school in Tamilnadu recognized by the state or central government.
   
   iii) Should be currently working
   
   iv) Candidates having a direct U.G degree without +2 qualification or candidate shaving a direct Post graduate degree without a U.G degree are not eligible.
   
   

2. Astrology

   B.A (Astrology) Programme
   Eligibility
   i) Diploma in Astrology (DA) (10th Std or SSLC or equivalent studies)
   ii) B.A. Astrology (+2, Diploma in Astrology or equivalent studies)
   iii) M.A. Astrology (Any Bachelor degree from a recognised University.
   
   

3. Fine Arts

   Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A) in Bharatanatyam
   Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A) in Bharatanatyam
