Tamil Virtual University - TVU

In order to preserve the cultural identity and traditions of the Tamils, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu announced the possible set up of Tamil Virtual University (TVU) in 1999, at an International Seminar and Conference on Information Technology, keeping in view the emerging needs of Tamil Communities and interest of aspirants of Tamil studies.

Tamil Virtual University has been established in pursuance of that announcement. The functions of TVU are guided by a Board of Directors and administered by a full time Director.
    
The functions of Tamil Virtual University (TVU) include:

• Internet based Educational Programmes
• Digital Library
• Development of Tamil computing
